DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, & T1D THERAPIST | TX & NY

It’s time to look at things a little differently.

Miriam Brand, LMHC

Hi! I’m Miriam. I help my clients get curious about themselves, so they can break free of the thoughts, beliefs, and patterns that are keeping them from the life they want.

By now you’ve come to accept that life isn’t going to go in a straight, smooth path. You know you can’t control what lies ahead, but you can control how you respond … and you want to be able to do that in a way you feel confident in and proud of.

I work with clients who are willing to ask “why,” to examine themselves, their experiences, and the things that have made them who they are today. Because as you grow in self-awareness, you also grow in fulfillment, strength, and self-compassion.

I like to think of therapy as your safe place to land.

Therapy is a consistent, reliable space to truly be yourself, express your emotions, and receive the support you need to show up fully in the other 167 hours of your week.

I’m not here to “fix” you; I’m here to help you learn about yourself. My job is to help you gain insight and perspective on patterns, beliefs, and feelings that you may not have been able to see before. It’s also to model a relationship where you can be fully vulnerable and fully accepted: somewhere you don’t have to worry about how you’re being perceived or doing things “wrong.”

What to Expect

In therapy, you’re in the driver’s seat -- I’m just the GPS to help guide you along the way. Everything we do together will be directed by what you want to get out of therapy and the skills and insight you hope to gain.

Sometimes we’ll use a session to vent and debrief after a tough situation from your week; other times, we’ll examine bigger picture thoughts or beliefs that may be holding you back. Each time we meet is an invitation to take a pause from your weekly life and get the support you need.

In order to get the most out of therapy, it's important you're working with someone you truly feel comfortable with. That’s why I offer a free consultation to help you decide if I’m the right therapist for you (and if I’m not, I can provide some names of other therapists that can help).
