TYPE 1 DIABETES THERAPIST | TX & NY

What if your Diabetes didn't feel so all-consuming?

Serving as your own pancreas can feel like a full-time job. But it doesn’t have to be what determines your confidence, happiness, or excitement about the future.

Living with T1D means having to think about your blood sugar before all else. It's no wonder it can feel so exhausting.

It can be hard to feel spontaneous, like you can just do or enjoy what others take for granted. Your friends don’t always understand, you’re constantly having to advocate for yourself, and it's often on you to educate people about it.

Maybe you’re

Newly diagnosed:

  • Trying to adjust to all of the lifestyle changes

  • Wondering if this is all you’ll ever be able to think about

  • Experiencing depression about your “old life” or anxiety about what’s ahead

Living with T1D for months or years:

  • Feeling exhausted and burnt out with day-to-day management

  • Frustrated with not getting it “right” all the time

  • Wishing it didn’t dictate everything you do

Entering a new stage of life:

  • Graduating from college, trying to conceive, or making another big lifestyle shift

  • Wondering how your care and management will need to change

  • Hoping people will understand

Let’s incorporate Diabetes into your life, rather than letting it run the show.

Your mental health and your physical health are closely related. When one is impacted, the other is too. As both a therapist and a Type 1 Diabetic, I know there’s a unique kind of stress that Diabetes adds to life. I can offer you a place where you can let all of the stress and emotions associated with your management out, as well as receive the support you need to ride out both the good and the bad days that T1D can bring.

As your therapist, I am not here to judge your care, your blood sugars, or your management. I am here as your ally, someone who can understand what you’re going through and help you identify ways to make day-to-day life easier and more fulfilling.

Note: I am not a Certified Diabetes Educator. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I’m focused on supporting you in the thoughts, behaviors, and emotions related to your Diabetes.

Therapy for Type 1 Diabetes can help you:

  • Achieve a sense of peace and acceptance about your diagnosis

  • Become confident advocating for yourself and your needs in new environments

  • No longer define yourself by your T1D

  • Give yourself grace and compassion when you don’t always get it right

  • Decrease feelings of exhaustion, burnout, and overwhelm

You are not your Diabetes.
